Ciao Corso, amico mio

Corso Salani, bravissimo regista prima che attore, è morto all’improvviso. Ciao Corso, amico mio.

Goodbye Corso, my friend
Corso Salani, an extremely talented director as well as an actor, died very suddenly. The film agencies remember him mostly as the star of Il muro di gomma (The Invisible Wall) by Marco Risi, but those few people who have been able to see his films, such as Gli occhi stanchi (Tired Eyes, 1995) or Occidente (The West, 2000),  know that a rare and original director has left us. As regards myself, a dear friend has gone, who I used to meet at the Trieste Film Festival every year. We were often in touch, like a few days ago when he asked for my advice about a book he had written, a diary of work and travel regarding one of his latest films. I want to remember him with this photo, taken on the tram that brought us back to Trieste from Villa Opicina, last January. He was about to start filming a movie, at Villa Opicina a frontier town between Italy and Slovenia, just as his films were on the frontier and about frontiers. Goodbye Corso, my friend.
